Many thanks to Paul Ollivier at Savoy Hill Publications who provided me with the Portadyne image/headed notepaper
logo, featured above.
Made during 1953 this well made compact bakelite radio came from one of the smaller and possibly lesser known
makers in England ... Portadyne. This particular model has the logo Portadyne Minx on the station indicator. Portadyne also
made the Princess model which appears to look identical, as featured in Radio Radio. Purchasers had a choice of brown bakelite
or this ivory coloured model. Wavebands Medium and Long. Quite a powerful set for it's size and in good working order.

Despite being made in London, England, I wonder if the designers of this set were maybe influenced by the
compact designs evident within the American market around that period. Often small miniature octal valves were used in these
sets, so it would make sense ... but this is only my theory !!!!
Does so remind me of certain receivers from the USA though !!
These receivers were also marketed under a different brand name for a while ...Noble.
Portadyne receivers were offered for sale during the early 1930's, these had wooden cabinets.
Portadyne as a company were still in existence during the 1960's and possibly into the early 1970's. They
also produced Television receivers and the odd radiogram I'm told.
